Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin.
Eczema is thought to result from a combination of genetic, environmental, and immune factors.
Common symptoms of eczema include:
Intense itching, which can lead to scratching and further skin irritation
Red or brownish-gray patches on the skin, typically found on the hands, feet, ankles, wrists, neck, upper chest, eyelids, inside the bend of the elbows and knees, and in infants, on the scalp and face
Dry, sensitive skin
Thickened, cracked skin
Small, raised bumps that may leak fluid and crust over when scratched
Eczema is a multi-factorial issue.
Factors Contributing to Eczema:
Yeast (included in this is mold, see below for further information)
Parasites
Gut and Skin Microbiome Imbalance
Environmental Exposures
Dry skin, winter, low humidity
Food Intolerances/Histamine
Nutrient Deficiency
